JUST IN: The New York Times features a revealing Q&A with Tyler Whitley, director of The Transfarmation Project at Mercy For Animals. The article was released shortly after today’s public announcement of the ribbon-cutting event for the first Transfarmation™ demonstration hub in Wadesboro, North Carolina, on September 6. It sheds light on life after factory farming and brilliantly highlights Mercy For Animals' role in helping farmers transition away from industrialized livestock agriculture. The headline, "Life After Factory Farming: ‘The Longer They’re Out, the Happier They Are,’" promises a fresh perspective on this crucial issue. Special thanks to Cara Buckley for her exceptional storytelling in the piece. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/euz2A7ZS#MercyForAnimals #EndFactoryFarming #Transfarmation

On the heels of Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) 's introduction of the Pigs and Public Health Act, a crucial article by Karen Weintraub at USA TODAY sheds light on a significant initiative. Mercy For Animals has launched a campaign advocating against the use of "downed pigs" in the food supply. These pigs, too sick, weak, or injured to walk, pose a risk to human health and safety. Frances Chrzan, the organization's senior federal policy manager, emphasizes that allowing sick pigs into the food supply and exposing workers to them creates an unnecessary risk to human health.
